Hand-dyed (procion fiber reactive dye) and hand-printed bandana:
The plants in the drawing are: white oak, hemlock, wood sorrel, black cohosh, ground cedar, stinging nettle, and wine berry
These bandanas are made from a soft and light 70% organic cotton/30% hemp that will only soften over time. For a professional finish and item longevity, the edges are sewn with a double folded hem.
I printed these with thickened dye, which leaves the bandana with an extremely soft hand. Most folks print with screen printing ink, in which case the image is printed ON TOP of the fibers, leaving a crunchy scratchy feeling. Alternatively, printing with dye leaves the image embedded INTO the fibers... that said, if you felt it with your eyes closed, you wouldn't know it was printed. Additionally, it is much less toxic than the discharge method I used to use and I think the results are WAY BETTER.
The image even bleeds to the other side a bit (sometimes crisper than others)
Size of bandana is roughly 21'' x 21'' and comes nicely folded in a kraft paper sleeve mentioning all the details of this unique handmade bandana.
